LGBT Common Room Campaign

Have you ever wondered why, when in the Gay Capital, Brighton University hasn't got it's own LGBT room?

We think that our Uni needs it's very own gay centre.

We need and want-

-A place where people can come and feel safe to be themselves.
-Where they can meet and make friends with other gay people from their Uni because being a split campus, people from different areas and campuses never get meet eachother.
-Somewhere that is safe for Trans people.
-Somewhere with gay literature.
-Somewhere that has gay information and advice.
-Somewhere you can go to find out about the events and campaigns being hosted by the commitee.

If you agree, then please join and help us get a room that you deserve.

FE students needed for LGB awareness DVD
Are you a lesbian, gay or bisexual student in further education?  Would you be comfortable talking on camera about your experiences as an LGB student?
The Centre for Excellence in Leadership is currently developing a training DVD for further education colleges on the subject of sexual orientation, which is supported by NUS.  They are looking for FE LGB students who would be willing to speak on camera about their experiences of being lesbian, gay, or bisexual in colleges in Britain.

Filming will take place in February, and is likely to be in London (expenses will be paid). If you would like to find out more, please contact Phil Barnett on phil.barnett@centreforexcellence.org.uk

Do you use Google and Wikipedia to research your essays? You might find this article on the policy of a Brighton University professor to be quite interesting! If you enter 'Brighton University' into Google it had already reached number 14 in the rankings, only 4 days after it was written. Another blog article about Brighton University's attitude to Google released on 15 Jan 2008 had reached the third page of rankings within 4 days. A new form of 'Google bombing'?
